
EV Battery Frame
HIGH-PERFORMANCE SOLUTIONS FOR PRECISION EV COMPONENTS

EV battery frames are used to contain, protect, and support the battery pack within EV vehicles. A large OEM was looking to produce this component for a new design. This specific frame design was an assembly made up of 3 separate rectangular shaped components that precisely fit into one another. To achieve the necessary tolerances of this precision molded part requires a high mold fill-balance and exceptional process control. Due to their rectangular shape, it also requires irregular gate points to inject the parts.
Mold-Masters solution was a Master-Series hot runner system which incorporated an optimized iFLOW manifold. iFLOW manifolds offer extensive design flexibility compared to conventional gun-drilled manifolds that enable industry-leading mold fill balance. In addition, Sequential Valve Gate (SVG) actuation control was used to further enhance process control and fill balance.
This solution achieved fill balance in the range of 98% enabling all 3 components to be successfully produced within acceptable tolerances.
