iFLOW Manifold Technology Optimizes Processing for Inline Mold Layouts

Mold-Masters iFLOW manifold technology allows for extensive optimization beyond the limitations of conventional gun-drilled manifolds. iFLOW manifolds are manufactured from 2-pieces of steel. Runner channels are CNC milled from each half utilizing proprietary melt flow geometries, flow path options and runner shapes which includes curved paths to optimize resin flow and overall processing performance.
Gun-drilled manifolds offer limited channel layouts which can restrict their balancing capabilities, especially for inline layouts, potentially impacting part quality and increasing scrap. However, iFLOW manifolds can be optimized to perform, even when unnaturally balanced, to achieve the maximum process window to deliver consistent filling for enhanced part quality and lower scrap.
iFLOW technology is ideal for a wide range of applications, including inline layouts. For example, eye drops are commonly produced and sold as inline packs of 5, 10 or 20. Mold-Masters leveraged iFLOW technology as part of our 40-drop (4x10-drop) hot runner system. This system is used to successfully produce 10.9g, LDPE 10-pack vial strips.
The success of this program has led to several re-orders of the system to allow the customer to increase the production capacity of this packaging product. Typically, other products that can benefit from this type of inline hot runner design are toothbrushes and razor blade handles.
If you have a similar application and need a high-performance solution, Mold-Masters has the processing technology to support you.
