Roll-on deodorant bottle applications have tight tolerance requirements to ensure proper sub-assembly functionality of the bottle, ball and cap. It would be very challenging to achieve the necessary precision requirements with a traditional, unbalanced system.
Many traditional IBM hot runner systems are not naturally balance which compromises performance. These types of systems typically produce bottles with inconsistent wall thickness (side-to-side & top-to-bottom variances), have long start-up times and poor color change performance. The IBM process relies on the delivery of near perfect melt homogeneity to all cavities to maximize part quality.
